Sonneratia caseolaris

Sonneratia caseolaris

Lythraceae
Myrtales

Native mangrove tree that produces leathery berries which I recall as having many tiny seeds and smelling pungently sweet(?) when ripe. iirc we laid the pieces of opened mushy fruits, skin side on the soil for germination. Interesting to learn that their flowers are visited by fruit bats and night-moths!

Side note: In general the concept of "native" seems to be up for debate considering sea levels and Sundaland. Another thing to look into?
