Dragonflies: obelisk posture

 

Dragonfly ancestors had wingspans close to 75cm and it's believed to be a result of high oxygen levels in the air. Imagine bumping into one of them o.O

Came across a newspaper article that dragonflies do this "handstand" to reduce surface area exposed to heat when the weather gets too hot!
