adult and juvenile Asian Glossy Starling (Aplonis panayensis) on Pipturus argenteus
Was wondering why the different looking bird was so close to the Asian Glossy Starling. Used the Merlin app and found that it's the juvenile! Adults have blackish-green plumage while juveniles have white undersides with black streaks. The starling a highly gregarious and common bird.
Pipturus argenteus
Urticaceae
Rosales
A non-native tree/shrub with serrated elliptical thin leaves with hairs on the lower leaf surface and petiole. Looks to me that it has 3 prominent veins emerging from the petiole? Its white fruits attract many birds.
